ALMAY: Clear Complexion Foundation
So a few years back I had allergy testing done because I was noticing that any and all makeup would give me a rash. I was basically swollen, red with teeny little bumps in patches. It was hot and itchy, and mixed with my dry skin and constantly switching makeup to figure out what would work was driving me insane. So off to the allergist I went. At the time I thought it may have been a latex allergy because I had latex based glue for my eyelashes the night before the most recent rash broke out, but nope! Thank god. I am, like most women, allergic to parabens, chemicals, and preservatives etc they put in makeup to keep it’s shelf-life. I was told Almay would be a great choice by my dermatologist because it has zero of these terrible things in it. Righto they were. I have now been using this foundation for almost three years. Although I originally used Almay’s TLC line, I have not seen it in any store in over a year! I am lucky I can switch within this brand and trust it will not cause issues. I also use the Almay TLC powder because it helps set my makeup, that is when my face isn’t too dry for powder. Blah. I like this makeup because overall I don’t look like I’m wearing anything. I also have “trouble spots” so I like that it doesn’t cause more blemishes because it has salicylic acid in it that fights blemishes; as long as I take it off every night (find my makeup remover here). It goes on smooth, evens out and matches my snow white skin tone, and is a great base for all the other toppings I add: eyebrow pencil, blush, bronzer etc etc. I will swear by Almay until the end of my days.
DKNY: Be Delicious, Rollerball
Every girl needs a rollerball perfume pen of their fave scent in their bag. It is a secret weapon for all day-to-day gals, stylists, makeup artist, personal assistant for these reasons and more: If you’re running around nuts and forget perfume in the morning; maybe are feeling a bit stanky in the afternoon after a buys, stressful day; randomly had time to hit the gym and need a pick-me-up; maybe someone smelly hugged you; or a friend smoked beside you. Rollerball perfum pens are everything. Also, this scent from DKNY is everything. I’ve been wearing it since high school. I am literally delicious like it tells me to “be”. And I don’t mean that in an egotistical “I smell better than you” way, but I hear it all the time so it must be true. It also stays in my clothes in the best way possible. It’s light and super fragrant but not over powering. I never thought a fruity scent would be my choice, but I got this perfume as a gift and have continued to wear it. I really hope that Donna Karan never decides to take it away from me. They have tried to add to the apple fam with DKNY Golden and Fresh Blossom, but they don’t have the same apPEEL (haha, get it, apple peel).
Honestly, The BEST pencil I have ever used is this self-sharpening brow pencil from MAC. I am SO pissed it runs out so quickly. I always do my brows. I get sassed by people about how I always do them…go to the gym, no makeup, but gotta have my brows on. Going to the corner store, must wear brows. I have been filling them for so long now, when I don’t I feel like I’m naked.
This pencil was brought to my attention by a makeup artist at a shoot a couple of months back. It is a perfect shade for a lot of hair colours. I almost exploded when it ran out because MAC is pricey, and an extra $20 alone on just a brow pencil every month (because that’s how long it lasted) is just too much!!!
This pencil is great because it self-sharpens, and is creamy and goes on exactly the way you line it. I also find it didn’t wear off very much, nor did it rub off or smudge easily. I just touch it up if I go out at night. This pencil creates the perfect shape, and doesn’t make my brows over power my face which I find with a lot of other products I use. Please MAC , why so pricey, haven’t you read the reviews?! We all say the same thing….
